Antoni Gaudi (june 1852- june 1926) was, in my opinion, one of the most incredible people that has ever graced this planet with his presence. i think Gaudi to be a thoughtful, unigue and diligent man, which is apparent through his many works of mosaic, architecture, and various other forms of art (including iron works). During his time, art was considered Modernisme (Art Nouvuea), and yet his work was often considered unusual even to his contemporaries as he would incorporate the forms, angles, and curves found in nature.
It is the genius of Gaudi that has inspired me throughout the years to progress forward within my art to include 3-dimensional pieces. Before seeing the work of Gaudi I was pretty much 2D, sad to say. Since falling in love with the work of Gaudi I now love to build my art upward and outward, with tiles and other found objects. Here are a few more photos of Antonis work for you to enjoy. |
